Use these tools to keep important posts in view and to handle problem posts. Pin or feature a post to put it on top, close comments to lock a discussion, and hide a post to take it out of the community without deleting it.
Who can do this: Pinning: community owners and admins anywhere, and space admins and moderators in their own spaces. Featuring: community owners and admins. Closing comments and hiding: community team members who can open Admin → Content → Posts, such as owners and admins. · Where: Pin and feature from a post's ⋯ menu on the web or in the iOS and Android apps. Close comments and hide in the admin console on the web. · Plan: Pinning depends on your platform plan. Unpinning always works.
Pin a post to the top of the community or a space
- Open the post's ⋯ menu.
- Click the pin option. Its name depends on where you are:
- In the home feed or on the post's page: Pin to Community (community owners and admins).
- In a space's feed: Pin to Space (community owners and admins, and the space's admins and moderators).
- On your own profile: Pin to Profile.
Pinned posts appear in a Pinned Posts section at the top of the home feed, the space, or the profile, with a Pinned badge. The most recently pinned post comes first, and extra pins fold behind Show all pinned. Each place holds up to 10 pinned posts; unpin one to make room. Replies can't be pinned.
To unpin, click Unpin from Community, Unpin from Space, or Unpin from Profile. To move a pinned post to the front, unpin it and pin it again.
In the app: tap ⋯, then Pin to community, Pin to space, or Pin to profile.
In the admin console: in Admin → Content → Posts, open a post's ⋯ menu and click Pin to pin it to its space.
Feature a post
Featuring highlights a post across the community. Community owners and admins open the post's ⋯ menu and click Feature Post (in the app, Feature post). Featured posts get a Featured badge. They lead the Discover feed when the community's Default Sort Order is set to Featured; see Customize your homepage. Click Unfeature Post to remove it.
Close comments on a post (lock a post)
Closing comments locks a post: nobody can add new replies, but the post stays visible.
- Go to Admin → Content → Posts.
- Open the post's ⋯ menu and click Close comments.
- Optionally enter a Reason (optional). Everyone who opens the post sees this reason.
- Click Close comments to confirm.
Members see "Comments are locked. New replies are not allowed." with your reason, and a Locked badge on the post's page. In the app, they see "This discussion is closed". Existing replies stay, and people can still react to, bookmark, and repost the post. Community owners, admins, and moderators, and the space's admins and moderators, can still reply.
To undo it, click Reopen comments. Authors can also switch off replies on their own posts with Turn off comments; see Comments, reactions, and reply settings.
Hide a post from the community
Hiding removes a post from everyone's view except its author's. Nothing is deleted.
- Go to Admin → Content → Posts.
- Open the post's ⋯ menu and click Hide.
- Optionally enter a Reason (optional). Only the author sees it.
- Click Hide to confirm.
Other members can no longer open the post from feeds, links, bookmarks, or notifications. The author still sees it, with the notice "A moderator hid this content. Only you can see it right now, and it can't be edited while it's hidden." and your reason. Mateflow doesn't send the author a separate notification.
To restore a post, choose Hidden in the post list's Marker filter to find it, then click Unhide.
Close comments or hide many posts at once
In Admin → Content → Posts, select several posts, click More, and choose Close comments, Reopen comments, Hide, Unhide, Pin, or Unpin. If some posts can't be updated, a summary shows how many succeeded and failed.
Things to know about locking and hiding
- Closing comments and hiding are available only in the admin console, not from a post's ⋯ menu or in the app.
- To remove a post permanently, delete it instead. See Edit or delete a post.
- For posts members have reported, see Review reported content.
