The MateFlow composer adapts to the kind of space you are posting in, so you always see the right tools for that content. This guide covers how to write a post, the formats you can attach, and how comments and threads work underneath.
Writing a post
Open the composer, pick a destination space, and start typing in the rich-text editor. The editor supports formatting via familiar Markdown shortcuts, plus inline tools for links and embeds. As you write you can:
- Mention people by typing @ and choosing from the suggestions. Mentions are capped per post to keep notifications sane.
- Add hashtags by typing #; matching tags autocomplete and become clickable topic links.
- Insert emoji from the picker.
- Paste a link to generate a link preview, and paste a YouTube URL to embed the video.
- Use AI Enhance to polish your draft, and save unfinished posts as drafts.
Media, attachments, and polls
The composer toolbar shows only the actions allowed by the current space type:
| Space type | Available formats |
|---|---|
| Post (Feed) | Text, images/video, GIF, file attachments, polls, emoji |
| Media (Gallery) | Images and video only |
| Podcast (Radio) | Audio only |
| Chat | Text, media, emoji |
| Q&A | Text, media, file attachments |
| Blog | Dedicated long-form article editor |
- Images and video: upload media, add alt text for accessibility, and choose a thumbnail.
- GIFs: search the built-in GIF library for feed posts.
- Audio: attach an episode in Podcast spaces.
- Files: attach documents in feed and Q&A spaces.
- Polls: add a multi-option poll in feed spaces (a plan-gated feature). Note that a post can carry a poll or media, not both at once.
Threads, scheduling, and reply rules
- Threads: break a longer idea into connected segments that publish as a single thread.
- Schedule: pick a future date and time to publish, and manage everything from your scheduled posts panel.
- Reply controls: choose who is allowed to reply, and flag a post with a content warning when it is sensitive.
Comments and threaded replies
Every post opens into a discussion. Replies are threaded: each comment can have its own nested replies, so branching conversations stay readable instead of collapsing into a flat list. You can sort replies (for example by Top or newest), and more replies load automatically as you scroll. Posts also support reactions, likes, reposts, quotes, and bookmarks so members can engage without writing a full comment.
