AI Enhance (Enhance with AI) is an AI writing assistant in the post composer. It can proofread a draft, polish it, make it shorter or longer, rephrase it, summarize it, or translate it before you post. The article editor has similar AI writing tools.
Who can do this: Any signed-in member, moderator, admin, or owner who can post, when the community has AI writing turned on. · Where: Web, including your phone's browser. AI Enhance isn't in the iOS and Android apps. · Plan: Available when your community's platform plan includes AI. Each request uses the community's AI allowance.
Enhance a post with AI
- Write your post, reply, or quote in the composer as usual.
- Click the sparkles button (Enhance with AI) in the composer's toolbar. Until the post has some text, the button stays inactive and shows "Add content to your post first".
- In Enhance your post with AI, choose an action:
- Proofread: fix grammar and spelling.
- Improve: enhance grammar, clarity, and flow.
- Shorten: make it more concise.
- More: Expand (add more detail), Rephrase (rewrite in a different style), Summarize, or Translate.
- Wait for the result. Click Cancel to stop it early.
- Click Insert as post under the version you want. You see "Applied to your post".
Insert as post replaces all the text in the composer with that version. Your title, photos, poll, and other attachments stay as they are. You can keep editing the text by hand before you click Post.
Choose a tone or a language for AI Enhance
Two settings sit under the action buttons in Enhance your post with AI:
- Tone: Professional, Casual, or Academic. It applies to Proofread, Improve, and Rephrase.
- Translate to: English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French, or German. It's used by Translate.
Pick the setting before you run the action.
Compare versions and try again
Each action adds a new version to the list, with the newest first, so you can compare several before choosing one. Click Regenerate on a version to get another take with the same action and settings. Only the version you insert changes your post, and closing the dialog clears the list.
AI Enhance tries to keep your @mentions and #hashtags. If a version drops some, it shows "Note: ... not preserved in the rewrite", and you get a warning when you insert it. Add them back by hand if you need them.
How AI Enhance counts toward AI limits
Every action and every Regenerate is one AI request. Requests draw on:
- Your daily limit: if your community sets a per-member daily AI limit, the dialog shows how many requests you have left today. When none are left, the actions are disabled until the limit resets. The same limit covers the community's AI assistant.
- The community's monthly AI allowance: when it's used up and the community has no on-demand AI credits, AI Enhance says the community has used up its monthly AI quota.

AI writing tools in the article editor
The rich-text editor used for articles (blog posts) and course descriptions has its own AI tools:
- Selected text: select some text, then click the sparkles button (AI Assistant) in the formatting bar that appears. Choose Improve Writing, Fix Grammar, Make Shorter, Make Longer, Summarize, Rephrase, Simplify Language, or Translate to English. The result replaces the selection.
- AI panel: click Open AI Assistant in the editor's toolbar to open a side panel with the same actions, plus Generate Outline and Continue Writing.
- Continue writing: type / and choose Continue Writing to let AI continue from where you left off.

Troubleshooting: the Enhance with AI button is missing
Symptom: There's no sparkles button in the composer, or the article editor has no AI tools. Why it happens: AI Enhance and the editor's AI actions need AI Actions turned on in the community's AI settings, and Continue Writing needs AI Writing Completion. You also need to be signed in. Fix: Ask your community's admins. Owners and admins turn these on under Admin → AI Copilot → Settings; see AI features in your community.
AI Enhance privacy and accuracy
AI can make mistakes, so read the result before you post. Only the text you enhance is sent to Mateflow's AI provider to create the new version; your photos and attachments aren't. See AI data privacy and limitations.
