You don't have to publish a post the moment you write it. Save it as a draft and finish it later, or schedule it to publish automatically at a future time. Drafts are saved to your account, so a draft you start on the web also shows up in the app.
Who can do this: Anyone who can post in a space: members, moderators, admins, and owners. · Where: Web and the iOS and Android apps. · Plan: Available on every platform plan.
Save a post as a draft
On the web:
- In the post composer, click the arrow next to Post.
- Click Save as draft. You see "Draft saved successfully".
If you close the composer with unsaved changes, Mateflow asks Save post?. Click Save draft to keep it, or Discard to throw the changes away. The composer doesn't save drafts on its own, so save before you leave.
In the app: tap ⋯ at the top of the composer, then Drafts, then Save as draft. If you close the composer with content in it, you see Save this post?. Tap Save draft or Discard.
A draft keeps the text, title, space, photos and videos, poll, GIF, audio, and attached documents.
Open or delete a draft
On the web:
- In the composer, click the arrow next to Post, then View drafts.
- The Drafts panel has two tabs: Unsent posts (your drafts) and Scheduled.
- Click a draft to load it into the composer, then keep writing or click Post.
To delete drafts, click Edit on the Unsent posts tab, select the drafts, click the delete button (Delete selected drafts), and confirm. Deleted drafts can't be recovered.
In the app: open the menu (☰) and tap Drafts, or tap ⋯ → Drafts in the composer. Tap a draft to open it. To delete one, open the menu (☰) → Drafts, tap the draft's delete button, and confirm Delete draft?.
Schedule a post to publish later
On the web:
- In the composer, click the arrow next to Post, then Schedule post.
- In Schedule publish, pick a Date and a Time. Your time zone is shown next to the description, and the dialog confirms Will publish on the date and time you chose.
- Click Schedule. The time must be at least 2 minutes from now.
- The main button now reads Schedule for and the time. Click it to add the post to the queue.
Before you submit, you can use Change schedule or Clear schedule in the same menu. Replies can't be scheduled.
In the app: tap ⋯ → Schedule, and choose a time such as In 1 hour, Tonight, 8 PM, Tomorrow, 9 AM, or Next Monday, 9 AM. Then tap Post. To undo it, tap Clear schedule.
Manage your scheduled posts
Go to Settings → Scheduled posts on the web. The Upcoming posts list is sorted by publish time and shows a countdown for each post. The same list is on the Scheduled tab of the Drafts panel.
For each scheduled post:
- Edit opens the post so you can change its content.
- ⋯ → Publish now publishes it immediately, after you confirm "Publish this post right now?".
- ⋯ → Reschedule lets you pick a new date and time.
- ⋯ → Delete removes the scheduled post. Confirm with Cancel, or click Keep to leave it scheduled. The post is deleted, not turned into a draft, and it can't be restored.
In the app: in the composer, tap ⋯ → Scheduled posts. You can Publish now or delete each post there. To reschedule, use the web.
Things to know about scheduled posts
- A scheduled post stays off the feed until its time. If you edit it, you see "Saved — this post is scheduled, so it stays off the public feed until its publish time."
- Scheduled posts go through the same review as other posts. If one is waiting for approval, Publish now shows "Not published — this post is waiting for a moderator to approve it."
- If the space is archived before the publish time, nothing is published.
- Community admins and moderators can see members' scheduled posts in Admin → Content → Posts on the Scheduled tab. There, Cancel Schedule stops a post from publishing and moves it to the Pending tab to wait for approval. See Manage posts, articles, and media in the admin console.
