People are what make a community worth showing up for. In MateFlow, every member has a public profile, and a lightweight following system lets members keep up with the people they care about. This guide covers how profiles are put together, how following works, and how to find members.
What a profile shows
A member's profile page combines identity, activity, and stats in one place:
- Header โ cover image, avatar, display name, an optional headline, and any badges or roles the member has earned.
- Bio โ a short introduction, plus optional location, join date, and links to social accounts like X, LinkedIn, GitHub, or YouTube.
- Custom fields โ extra details your community admins choose to collect, such as role or interests.
- Stats โ counts for posts, following, followers, and likes received.
- Activity feed โ tabs for the member's posts, replies, media, and blog articles.
To edit your own profile, open your profile and choose Edit profile, which takes you to your profile settings where you can update your avatar, cover, bio, links, and fields.
Following and followers
- On anyone else's profile, use the Follow button to follow them; it becomes Following and toggles back to unfollow.
- When two people follow each other, a Mutual badge appears; if someone follows you but you don't follow back, you'll see a Follows you badge.
- Click the following or followers count on any profile to open the full list of those connections.
- If you share connections with someone, their profile highlights the followers you have in common.
Following shapes what you see and helps you build your own network inside the community without any pressure, there are no friend requests to approve.
Finding people
The Members directory is the fastest way to discover who is in your community. It offers:
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
| Tabs | Switch between All members, the people you follow, and your followers |
| Search | Find a member by name (on the All tab) |
| Sort | Order by newest, most active, most followers, or alphabetically |
| Filters | Narrow by role, member tag, or membership tier |
Each member card shows an avatar, name, bio, and a Follow button, so you can connect right from the list. Profiles and recommendation cards such as Who to follow also surface throughout the community to help you meet more people.
