Communities run live sessions, workshops, meetups, and calls through events. This guide covers everything a member needs: finding what's coming up, RSVPing, joining online, and making sure you don't miss it. If you host events yourself, see host community events.
Find events
Open Events from the main navigation to see everything you can attend. You can filter by:
- Upcoming โ events that haven't started yet
- Past โ events that have already happened
- Attending โ events you've RSVP'd to
- My events โ events you're involved with
Event spaces also show an upcoming-events card, so you'll spot relevant sessions while browsing. Some events live inside a members-only space; if you see a lock, join that space first to unlock the full details and RSVP.
RSVP: Attending, Maybe, or Not going
Open any event to see its details, then set your RSVP. You have three choices:
| Option | What it means |
|---|---|
| Attending | You're going. The host counts you in and you'll get reminders. |
| Maybe | You're interested but not sure. You can switch to Attending anytime before it starts. |
| Not going | You're declining. This clears you from the attendee list. |
On the event page you can also tap Register for event to confirm, or Cancel RSVP to change your mind. Your choice updates instantly and you can change it as often as you like.
Waitlists
If an event has an attendee limit and it's already full, RSVPing adds you to the waitlist. You'll see a "You're on the waitlist" note. If a spot opens up, MateFlow upgrades your RSVP to Attending automatically โ no need to keep checking.
Join an online event
For online sessions, the event page shows a Join Now button (or a "Join online" link) at start time. If the host hasn't posted the link yet, you'll see "Meeting link will be shared by host" โ check back as the event approaches. For in-person events, the page shows the location on a map with Directions and a copy-address option instead.
Reminders
On the event page, use Remind me before to pick when you're nudged: Off, 15 minutes, 1 hour, or 1 day ahead. Reminders are delivered through your notification channels (in-app, email, or push). If all your reminder channels are turned off, MateFlow tells you so you can re-enable them in your notification settings.
Add it to your calendar
Tap Add to calendar to keep the event in your own calendar app. You can:
- Add to Google Calendar, Outlook, or Yahoo in one click
- Download an .ics file for Apple Calendar or Outlook desktop
- Copy the iCal content to paste anywhere
Many events also have a linked chat where attendees can talk before and after โ look for the Discuss in chat link on the event page.
