Communities hold live sessions, workshops, meetups, and calls as events. This article shows how to find events, RSVP (register), get reminders, add an event to your calendar, and join it when it starts.
Who can do this: Signed-in members who can see the space the event belongs to. · Where: Web and the Mateflow app for iOS and Android. · Plan: Available when your community's plan includes events and the space has events turned on.
Find events in your community
On the web, click Events in the community's navigation. Choose a tab:
- Upcoming: events that haven't happened yet.
- Past: events that are over. Some have a replay.
- Attending: events you RSVP'd to.
- My Events: events you created.
Narrow the list by type (Online, In Person, or Hybrid), turn on Featured or Has spots, choose a space, or use Search events.... Each space with events also has its own Events tab.
Event cards show You're going or Waitlist when you've responded. They also show Sold Out or Near Capacity as seats fill up.
In the app: open the side menu and tap Events. The tabs are Upcoming, This week, Past, and My events.
If an event says "Join {space} to view this event", it belongs to a space you haven't joined. Click Join Space, then come back to RSVP.
RSVP to an event
Open the event and choose your response:

| Not going | Pass | You won't attend. Choosing this cancels your RSVP. |
To change your answer, choose a different option. If the host allows guests, use Bringing guests to add people you're bringing. Guests take seats too. RSVPs are free; Mateflow events don't sell tickets.
If the host has closed registration, you see "The host has closed registration for this event." You can still switch to Not going (in the app, Cancel my registration).
Join an event's waitlist
When an event with limited seats is full, it shows EVENT FULL, and the first option becomes Join waitlist. After you join, you see "You're on the waitlist".
If someone cancels, the next person on the waitlist is usually moved in automatically. You then get the notification "You're off the waitlist — your spot is confirmed".
Set a reminder for an event
After you RSVP Attending or Maybe to an upcoming event, the event page shows Remind me before. Choose Off, 15 min, 1 hour, or 1 day.
Reminders arrive through your notification settings. If you see "All reminder channels are disabled in your notification settings.", turn a channel back on. To choose a reminder for all new RSVPs, go to Settings → Notifications → Event Reminders and set the Default reminder offset. See Choose your notifications.
Add an event to your calendar
Click Add to calendar on the event page, then choose Google Calendar, Outlook, Yahoo, Download .ics (Apple/Outlook), or Copy iCal content. In the app, Add to calendar is in the event's ··· menu.
An added event doesn't update if the host changes the time. To keep events in sync, click Subscribe to calendar on the Events page or a space's Events tab. Choose Events I'm attending or the space's events, then copy the link into Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, or Outlook. In the app, tap the calendar icon on the Events screen.
Join an online event or live session
- Online events: after you RSVP Attending, the event page shows Join online with the meeting link. Until the host adds the link, you see "Link will be shared by host" (in the app, "The host will share the link.").
- Live sessions in Mateflow: if the host runs the event as a live room or webinar in Mateflow, the event page shows Watch live while it's happening (in the app, Go to the broadcast). Some rooms only let in people who RSVP'd. Afterward, look for Watch replay. See Join a live room or webinar.
- In-person events: the Location card has a map, Directions, and Copy for the map link. Hybrid events show both the address and the online link.
Things to know about events
- Time zones: event times show in your own time zone. If the host is somewhere else, you also see the Host timezone.
- Recurring events: each date in a series is a separate event, so RSVP to each one you'll attend. Click View all → to see the whole series.
- Discussion: if the event was posted in the space's feed, click the Discussion icon (in the app, Open the discussion) to comment.
- Cancelled events: you see "This event was cancelled" and the host's reason, if they gave one.
