Courses are step-by-step lessons you work through at your own pace, sometimes with quizzes and a certificate at the end. This article covers enrolling, learning, quizzes, progress, and certificates.
Who can do this: Signed-in members. · Where: Web and the Mateflow app for iOS and Android. · Plan: Available when your community's plan includes courses.
Find courses
On the web, click Courses in the community's navigation. The Browse tab lists the courses you can see. Filter by All, Free, or Paid, sort them, or use Search courses.... My Learning shows the courses you're enrolled in, filtered by In Progress or Completed. You can also choose My Courses from your avatar menu.
In the app: open the side menu and tap Courses. Tap My for your courses.
Enroll in a course
Open a course to see its description and Course Content (the outline). The button on the course page depends on how the course is offered:

| Buy Now | Choose One-Time Purchase, click Purchase Access, and pay at checkout. The course then appears under Lifetime Access in your Member Center. |
| Subscribe | Choose a membership plan that includes the course. If you already have one, the button may read Continue instead, and your subscription switches to that plan. |
| How to join | The course is only for members of certain groups, and it isn't open for subscriptions. Ask an admin if you should have access. |
| Request Access | Answer Why do you want to join?, add a message if needed, and click Submit Request. An admin reviews it. |
| Enroll free after reaching a level | The course unlocks for free once you reach that level. See Earn points, levels, and medals. |
If a course is invite-only, paste your code and click Join with invite code. Lessons marked Preview can be opened before you enroll.
In the app, the buttons read Enroll for free, Subscribe to enroll, or Request access. Where the web shows How to join, the app shows "For members of [group]. Ask an admin if you should have access." To buy a single course, use the web. In the iPhone and iPad app, prices and purchase buttons don't appear; buy on the web and the course opens in the app. See Manage your membership and payments.
Work through a course's lessons
After you enroll, click Continue Learning. It opens the lesson you were on. On a computer, the course outline is on the left. Move between lessons with Previous and Next, or the left and right arrow keys.
Lessons can be a video, text, a file (PDFs open in the page, with Download File), an embedded page, or a quiz. Extra files are under Attachments. Videos pick up where you left off.
Some lessons unlock later. The outline shows when, for example "Unlocks on {date}" or "Unlocks 3 days after enrollment". When new lessons unlock, you get a notification: "New content is now unlocked in [course]".
Below each lesson, My Notes holds private notes that only you can see. Click Save to keep them. On video lessons, you can insert a timestamp. The Discussion tab, if the course allows it, lets you ask questions that other learners can see.
Mark lessons complete and track your progress
When you finish a lesson, click Finish & continue, or Mark as Complete on the last lesson. Videos are marked complete automatically when you watch almost to the end. A completed lesson stays complete. You can't mark it incomplete again.
Your course page shows Your Progress as a percentage and "… / … lessons completed". Each course card in My Learning shows the same.
Take a quiz in a course
A quiz lesson shows the number of questions, the Pass score, and how many attempts you've used. Questions can be Select one, Select all that apply, or True or False.
- Answer the questions. Required ones are marked Required.
- Click Submit.
- You see Passed or Not yet passed, your score, the correct answers, and an Explanation if the instructor added one.
If you didn't pass and have attempts left, click Retake quiz. A quiz lesson is complete only when you pass it; there's no complete button.
Get your course certificate
When you finish the course, you see Congratulations!. If the course offers a certificate and you've met its completion rule, your Certificate: number appears, with Verify and Copy link.
To find your certificates later, go to Courses → Certificates (My Certificates). Each one has Share and Verify. Certificates don't come as PDF files; share the link instead. Anyone with the link can open the Verify Certificate page without signing in, even if the community is private. It shows Certificate Verified with the Certificate Number, Course, Issued By, Issued On, and a Verification Status of Valid. It doesn't show your name.
In the app: open My courses and tap Certificates.
Differences in the app
- Tap the outline icon to see the course's lessons.
- Mark complete · Next lesson marks the lesson complete and opens the next one.
- Videos don't resume where you stopped and aren't marked complete automatically, so tap Mark complete when you're done.
- Files and embedded pages open in the browser.
