MateFlow courses let you package your knowledge into a structured, sellable product that lives right inside your community. A course is a special kind of space made of sections and ordered lessons. This guide walks through building one, choosing how learners pay, and getting it ready to publish.
Create a course
From the admin area open Courses and click Create course. You will fill in the basics: a course name, a short subtitle shown on list cards, a description, a category, and imagery such as a cover image, avatar, and optional promo video. Every course needs at least one instructor โ search your members and add them so the setup is complete.
Build sections and lessons
Inside the course open the Course Content manager. Click Add Section to create a container, then add lessons to it. Both sections and lessons can be dragged to reorder. Each lesson has a Lesson Type that is chosen when you create it and cannot be changed afterward:
| Lesson type | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Text Content | Written material in a Markdown editor |
| Video | An uploaded video (MP4, M4V, MOV) that MateFlow processes for streaming |
| File Download | A downloadable file such as a PDF, Word, Excel, or image |
| Embedded Content | An external HTTPS page embedded via iframe |
| Quiz | A set of graded questions |
Each lesson also carries settings: a title and summary, estimated minutes to complete, a Required toggle (learners must view it to progress), a Public Preview toggle (viewable before enrolling), a discussion toggle for comments, and file attachments.
Adding a quiz
In a quiz lesson set a Pass score (0โ100) and optional Max attempts. Each question can be Single choice, Multiple choice, or True / False, needs at least two options with at least one marked correct, and can include an optional explanation shown after answering.
Set pricing and access
Open the course settings and find Pricing and access. Leave the Paid course toggle off to make the course free. Turn it on to charge, then pick a Payment mode:
- Free โ open enrollment, no charge.
- One-time purchase โ learners pay a single price to own the course.
- Subscription โ learners pay a recurring price for ongoing access.
You can also cap seats with a Seat limit, set visibility to Public, Private, or Secret, and optionally enable Tier-based access so members holding selected tiers are granted access automatically (either tier-only or tier plus paid join).
Completion and certificates
Under Completion and interaction choose a completion criteria โ all lessons, required lessons only, or a completion percentage. Enable the Certificate toggle to issue a certificate when a learner finishes; they can download the PDF, share it, and verify it from their My Certificates page. You can also turn on reviews, discussions, and drip scheduling to release sections over time.
Run the publish checklist
Before a course goes live the publish checklist confirms it is ready: basic information, at least one section, lessons added, at least one required lesson, an assigned instructor, and pricing and access configured. Once the items are complete, use Publish to make the course available. You can unpublish at any time.
