Mateflow records how far each student has got through a course. Course admins can see every learner's progress, export it, find the lessons where people stop, and check quiz scores. This is sometimes called student progress tracking, course reports, or learner analytics.
Who can do this: Community owners and admins, and the course's space admins. Moderators can see each course's overall completion in the course list, but not individual students. · Where: Web (the course's Course Management panel, and Admin → Courses → All Courses). Course progress can't be viewed in the mobile app. · Plan: Courses depend on your platform plan.
How learner progress is counted
A student's progress is the number of lessons they've completed out of the course's total. A lesson counts as complete when the student clicks Mark as Complete, watches most of a video lesson on the web, or passes a quiz lesson. The course is complete when the student meets its Completion criteria. See Course completion and certificates.
Course admins and instructors who open lessons without enrolling aren't students, so they don't appear in the roster and their previews don't count.
See progress across all your courses
Go to Admin → Courses → All Courses. The Course Catalog shows each course's Completion: the completion rate, and how many enrolled students have completed it. From a course's ⋯ menu, click Students Management or Course Analytics to open that page of the course's Course Management panel.
The course's own Overview page also sums it up: Students (with how many are active) and Avg. progress (with the share of students who have completed).
See each student's progress
- Open the course's Course Management panel: click the gear icon (Manage Course) on the course page, or open the course's ⋮ menu in the sidebar and click Manage course.
- Click Students.
Each row shows the Student, their Email, Progress (lessons completed out of the total, with a progress bar), the date Enrolled, Last Activity (with the last lesson they opened), and Status. Search by name or email, or filter by status:
- Active: enrolled and working through the course.
- Completed: met the course's completion criteria.
- Inactive: no longer has access, for example because they left the course space, were removed, or lost the access group or purchase that let them in.
The list starts on Currently enrolled (active and completed students). Choose All (incl. inactive) to include everyone. The cards above the list show Cumulative students (everyone who ever enrolled), Active students, Completion rate, and Avg progress.
Export student progress to a CSV file
On the Students page, click Export CSV. The student roster, with each student's progress, downloads right away. The file includes email addresses, so store and share it according to your privacy policy.
Find the lessons where learners drop off
Click Analytics in the course's Course Management panel and choose a period: 7d, 30d, 90d, or All.
- New Enrollments, Active Students, Avg Progress, and Completions show how the course is doing.
- Avg Time is the average time from enrollment to completion.
- Enrollment Trend charts new enrollments over the period.
- Lesson Completion lists every lesson with its Completion, Avg Time, and Drop-off, so you can see where learners stop.
The page also shows Certificates issued, Avg Rating, and Revenue, which is an estimate that doesn't reflect refunds or subscriptions.
Check quiz scores for a lesson
- In the course's Course Management panel, click Curriculum.
- Open the quiz lesson's ⋯ menu, click Edit Lesson, then click View results.
Quiz Results lists every attempt with the Student, Attempt, Score (Passed or Not passed), and when it was Submitted. Click a student's name to see each of their answers. Per-question accuracy shows how often each question is answered correctly. See Add a quiz to a lesson.
Troubleshooting: a student is missing from the list
Symptom: A member who took the course doesn't appear on the Students page. Why it happens: Their enrollment is Inactive, and the default view shows only current students. Fix: Set the status filter to All (incl. inactive) or Inactive. Removing a student clears their progress, so a removed student's earlier progress can't be restored.
