MateFlow lets you sell membership to your community with as many plans as you need. You build each plan in the admin under Monetization โ Subscription plans, where the plan editor is split into four tabs: Basics, Pricing, Access & benefits, and Display & visibility. This guide covers the choices that matter most.
Choose what the plan unlocks
On the Basics tab, pick a plan purpose (this is locked after creation, so choose carefully):
- Member tier โ subscribers automatically receive a member tier you select, inheriting its space access and perks.
- Site access (paid signup) โ visitors must subscribe before they can create an account, turning your whole community into a paid product.
Give the plan a clear name (e.g. Premium, VIP, Pro) and a short description โ both appear on your pricing page.
Set monthly and annual pricing
On the Pricing tab, choose a currency and enter a monthly price. The annual price is optional: leave it empty to offer monthly billing only, or fill it in to give members a yearly option (MateFlow suggests an annual figure at roughly two months off). When both periods have a price, you pick which one is pre-selected for new subscribers.
Add a free trial
In the same tab, set Free trial (days) โ the number of days before the first charge. Leave it empty for no trial. Trials can run from 1 to 365 days, so you can offer anything from a 7-day taste to a full-month evaluation. Subscribers are only billed once the trial ends.
Cap subscribers and list benefits
Use Subscriber limit to cap the number of active subscribers on a plan โ perfect for a founding-member cohort or a limited coaching group. Leave it empty or set 0 for unlimited. On the Access & benefits tab, bind the plan to a member tier (required for member-tier plans, optional for site-access plans) and add a short Benefits list with icons; these bullets are what members see on the plan card.
Control visibility
On Display & visibility, toggle Mark as popular to add a featured badge, and Publicly listed to show the plan on your pricing page (turn it off for a private or invite-only plan). Add a Welcome message that greets subscribers immediately after a successful payment.
Run multiple tiers
There is no single "tiers" screen โ you create multiple plans, each granting its own member tier, to build a Bronze/Silver/Gold-style ladder. Plans set the price and access; member tiers add recognition and status, and can also be earned through activity. Keep each plan's name and benefits distinct so members can tell them apart.
Offer coupon discounts
Under Monetization โ Coupons you can create discount codes. Each coupon has an uppercase code (use Generate for a random one), a percentage or fixed-amount discount, an optional maximum number of uses (empty = unlimited), an optional expiry date, and an active toggle. Coupons apply to your subscription plans, so you can run launch promos or win-back offers.
A note on fees
MateFlow's platform fee starts at 3% and drops toward 0% as your community grows, so more of every membership payment stays with you over time. Standard Stripe processing fees still apply on top.
