The admin console is where you run your community: members, content, spaces, moderation, money, appearance, and settings. This article shows how to open it, what each section is for, and why different people see different menus.
Who can do this: Owners, admins, moderators, billing admins, and custom roles — each sees only what their role allows. · Where: Web only; the Mateflow app doesn't include the admin console. · Plan: Some sections and pages depend on your platform plan.
Open the admin console
- In your community, click your profile picture, then Admin Dashboard.
- Or add
/adminto your community's address, for example yourname.mate.so/admin. - From the creator dashboard, open the community and click Open community admin (community owners only).
Only people with a team role see the Admin Dashboard entry. The admin console is also called the community admin.
How the admin console menu works
On a computer, the icons on the left are the sections. Click a section to see its pages in the second column. Click your community's logo at the top to return to the community.
On a phone's browser, tap the menu button at the top left to choose a section, then a page. Tap Back to sections to go back.
Admin console sections and what they're for
The admin console groups its pages into these sections:
| Section | Use it to |
|---|---|
| Dashboard | See stats, your setup checklist, and plan usage (Overview), and Recent Activity |
| Members | Manage All Members, Access Groups, Invitations, Join Requests, Verification Requests, Import / Export, and Sessions |
| Content | Review Posts, Blogs, Q&A, Events, Live, Media Library, and Hashtags |
| Community | Organize Spaces, Categories, and Collections |
| Courses | Manage All Courses |
| Moderation | Work the Reports Queue and Pending Content, set up Automated Moderation, check AI Activity, Appeals, Banned & Suspended, and the Audit Log |
| Analytics | Track Members, Content, Engagement, Retention, Search, and Spaces |
| Marketing | Send Broadcasts and the Community Digest, and show a site-wide banner or pop-up with Global Communication |
| Automations | Build Rules and read Execution Logs |
| AI Copilot | Set up your community's AI assistant for members |
| Monetization | Sell to members: Subscription Plans, Subscribers, Payments, Coupons, Earnings, Stripe Connect, and more |
| Billing | Pay Mateflow for your platform plan: Overview, Plan & Usage, Add-ons, Storage Usage, History |
| Appearance | Change Branding, Themes, Homepage, Navigation, Links, and Footer |
| Settings | Configure General, Registration, Onboarding, Security, SSO, Team & Roles, Communication, Email & Notifications, Integrations, and more |
Monetization is about what members pay you. Billing is about what you pay Mateflow. See How Mateflow is organized.
What each role sees in the admin console
The admin console hides sections and pages that your role can't use:
- Owners and admins see every section. Only the owner sees Billing → Add-ons.
- Moderators see only Content, Community, Moderation, and Courses. The admin console opens on Moderation for them, and some pages inside those sections (for example Categories and Collections) stay hidden.
- Billing admins see the Billing section and nothing for members, content, moderation, or settings.
- Custom roles see the sections and pages their permissions allow.
If you open a link to a page your role can't use, you see Admin Access Required. See Team roles and permissions.
Plan-locked pages in the admin console
Some sections and pages need a feature that your platform plan may not include — for example Courses, Monetization, AI Copilot, Access Groups, Blogs, Events, Audit Log, Engagement, Retention, Profile Fields, SSO, Gamification, and Team & Roles.
- If you can manage billing (owners, admins, and billing admins), a locked page shows a lock icon (Locked — upgrade to access). Clicking it opens an upgrade dialog; click View Plans to compare plans.
- Everyone else doesn't see locked pages at all.
To see which features your plan includes, go to Admin → Billing → Plan & Usage. See Check plan usage and limits.
Search the admin console
Search admin lets you jump to any admin page by name:
- On a computer, press Ctrl+K (Windows) or ⌘K (Mac).
- On a phone's browser, tap the search icon (Search admin) at the top right.
Type part of a section or page name, such as "branding" or "invitations", and choose a result. Search admin matches page names, not individual settings inside a page. It only lists pages you can open; plan-locked pages show a lock and open the upgrade dialog.
