Complete your launch checklist

Getting started · 4 min read

Mateflow gives you two setup checklists for a new community. The Launch checklist in the creator dashboard covers the community as a whole, and the Set up your community checklist in the admin console walks you through first content, members, and settings. This article explains both.

Who can do this: The creator dashboard checklist: workspace Owners, Admins, and Members can tick items; Viewers can only read it. The admin console checklist: community owners and admins. · Where: Web. · Plan: Some tasks, such as a custom domain or member payments, use features that depend on your platform plan.

Open the launch checklist in the creator dashboard

You can open a community's launch checklist in three ways:

  • Go to Dashboard (app.mateflow.com) → Communities, click the ⋯ menu on the community, then click Launch checklist.
  • Open the community and click the Launch checklist tab.
  • On the community's Overview, find the Launch readiness card and click Continue setup (or Review checklist when everything is done).

Work through the creator dashboard launch checklist

The top of the launch checklist shows Overall progress — how many items are completed and a percentage. Each item has a title and a short description. Items you must finish before launch have a Required badge.

  1. Click Open action on an item to go to the page where you complete it. Pages outside the creator dashboard open in a new tab.
  2. When an item is done, tick its checkbox. You see Checklist updated. You can untick an item to reopen it.

The launch checklist has five items:

Item Required How it's completed
Choose a starting template No Tick it when done
Confirm your subdomain Yes Completed automatically when the community is created
Set your custom domain No Tick it when done
Invite your team No Tick it when done
Enter Site Admin Yes Tick it when done

Only the subdomain item completes on its own. Choosing a template, verifying a domain, or sending invitations elsewhere doesn't tick the matching item, so come back and tick it yourself.

If your template added example posts, a Sample posts from your template card appears below the list. Click Remove sample posts once you have real content. Only posts the template created are removed, and sample posts that already have member replies are kept.

A community created from a template can also show an Owner setup card on its Overview page, with tasks that come from the template.

Use the Set up your community checklist in the admin console

The Set up your community card appears at the top of Admin → Dashboard → Overview. It has these eight tasks:

Task Where you complete it
Upload your community logo Admin → Appearance → Branding
Pick a brand theme Admin → Appearance → Themes
Create your first Space Admin → Community → Spaces
Publish your first post Any space in your community
Invite your first members Admin → Members → Invitations
Connect Stripe for member payments Admin → Monetization → Stripe Connect
Connect a custom domain Admin → Settings → General
Define moderation rules Admin → Moderation → Automated Moderation

Click Go next to a task to open its page. There are no checkboxes: Mateflow marks a task Done when it detects that you've completed it. Connect Stripe for member payments is about collecting money from members, not about paying for your own platform plan.

  • Remind me later hides the checklist for 24 hours.
  • The Collapse arrow shrinks the card to a progress bar; click Expand to open it again.
  • When every task is done, the card disappears.

The setup checklist inside your community

The community's owner also sees the Set up your community checklist while browsing the community itself. The first time you visit, a Welcome to [your community name]! message shows your progress. Click Start setup to open the task list, or Look around first to close the message. On a computer, a floating setup panel then appears in the corner of the page until setup is complete. The panel shares its progress and Remind me later with the admin console card, so snoozing one snoozes both.

Things to know about the launch checklists

  • The two checklists are separate. Completing an item in one doesn't tick the other.
  • Setup progress on the creator dashboard Home page is about your Mateflow account (Verify your email, Add a payment method), not about a community.
  • Welcoming new members is a different feature. See Set up new-member onboarding.
