Your sign-up page is often the only page a visitor sees before joining: people you send an invitation or plan link land there, and visitors to a private community can't see anything else. This guide shows how to add an intro, a cover image or video, your hosts, and answers to common questions, and how to choose the social proof visitors see.
Who can do this: Community owners and admins. · Where: Web (admin console). · Plan: Available on every platform plan.
Open the sign-up page settings
Go to Admin → Appearance → Sign-up Page. Click View sign-up page to see it as visitors do.
The intro, media, hosts, questions, and social proof switches are saved together: click Save Changes at the bottom of the page, or Reset Changes to go back to what's saved. If you leave with unsaved changes, you're asked to confirm. Testimonials and stats are saved as soon as you add or change each one.
Everything on this page is shown exactly as you write it, whatever language a visitor uses. Sections you leave empty don't appear on the sign-up page.
Add an intro, a cover image, or a video
Under Intro and media:
- Intro: who the community is for, what members get, and what happens after they join. Plain text, up to 1,000 characters; line breaks are kept.
- Cover image: 16:9 works best.
- Video link: a YouTube or Vimeo link, such as
youtube.com/watch?v=…orvimeo.com/123456. YouTube Shorts and private Vimeo links aren't accepted. With a video, the cover image is its poster, and the video loads only when a visitor presses play.
The intro and media appear above the sign-up form, or with the plans in a paid community.
Introduce your hosts
Under Hosts, add up to 3 people from your team: the owner, admins, moderators, and custom roles with admin permissions.
- Choose someone in Add a host.
- Write a line about them, up to 120 characters. If you leave it empty, visitors see the headline from their profile.
- Use Move up and Move down to change the order.
If a host leaves your team, they disappear from the sign-up page within a few minutes.
Answer common questions
Under Questions, add up to 8 questions and answers. Click Add a question, or start from one of the Suggestions, such as "Who is this community for?" or "Can I cancel anytime?". A question can be up to 150 characters and an answer up to 600. Each question needs an answer; empty rows aren't saved. Use Move up and Move down to change the order.
Choose the social proof visitors see
Under Social proof, turn on what appears beside the sign-in, sign-up, password reset, and renewal forms:
- Member count: shown once the community has 50 members.
- Testimonials: the testimonials you add below.
- Stats: the stats you add below.
All three are on until you change them.
Add testimonials and stats
Testimonials and stats are in Social proof on sign-in pages, lower on the same page.
- Testimonials (up to 5): click Add testimonial and enter the member's Name, a Role or title (optional), the Quote, and a Photo (optional). Without a photo, their initial is shown. Use a real member's words and name.
- Stats (up to 4): click Add stat and enter a Value (such as "120+") and a Label (such as "founders").
A name or title can be up to 100 characters, a quote up to 500, and a stat's value or label up to 50. Use Move up and Move down to set the order. On a large screen, testimonials rotate beside the form, pausing while a visitor hovers or focuses them; on phones, the first testimonial appears below the form. A deleted testimonial or stat disappears from the sign-in pages right away.
Give each paid plan its own pitch
In a paid community, each Community access plan can have its own page. In Admin → Monetization → Subscription Plans, edit the plan, open Display & Visibility, and fill in Plan page:
- Pitch: one line under the plan name, up to 120 characters.
- Who it's for: a short tag on the plan, such as "First-year founders", up to 30 characters.
- Cover image and Video link: shown on the plan's sign-up page and its card. Without them, the community's sign-up page media is used.
A plan's own page is what people see when you send them the plan's link. See Create a subscription plan: pricing, trials, and benefits.
What visitors see on the sign-up page
- Your intro, cover or video, Your hosts, and Questions.
- In a paid community, What's inside, listing the spaces a plan unlocks. It's filled in automatically from the plan's access group.
- In a paid community, the plans come first, so the button to choose one is visible on a phone without scrolling. See Make your community paid to join.
- On phones, the top of the page shows your square logo, community name, and tagline, with one line of proof: the member count once you have 50 members, or else your first stat.
- When someone shares a link to the sign-up page, the preview shows your community's name, description, and social sharing image. A plan link's preview looks the same, without the plan or its price.
The background image beside the sign-in and sign-up forms is set on the Branding page. See Customize your logo, favicon, and social image. To see how many visitors go on to join and pay, see Admin → Analytics → Sign-ups in Understand your community analytics.
