A community grows one invitation at a time. MateFlow gives you two complementary ways to bring people in โ direct email invites for people you know, and shareable invite links for reaching an audience at scale. You can assign a member's role at the moment you invite them, so people land with exactly the right access.
Where to invite from
Open Admin → Members and choose Invite. The invite dialog has two tabs: Email and Invite link.
Inviting by email
Email invites are best for a founding group or people you're personally recruiting:
- Type an email address and press Enter, or paste a whole list separated by commas, spaces, or line breaks โ MateFlow validates each address and removes duplicates automatically.
- Each valid address becomes a chip you can remove; invalid ones are flagged so you can fix them.
- Choose the role the invitees will receive: Member, Moderator, or Admin.
- Add an optional personal message โ a short, warm note lifts acceptance rates noticeably.
- Select Send invites to deliver them all at once.
Inviting with a shareable link
Invite links are ideal for newsletters, social posts, DMs, or anywhere you want many people to join from one URL:
- Pick the role for invited members, then generate the link (or code).
- Anyone who opens the link joins your community with the role you selected, so choose carefully โ most public links should grant Member.
- Copy the link (or the raw invite code) with one click and share it wherever your audience already gathers.
Generated links appear in a recent links list showing each link's role, how many times it's been used (against any usage cap), and its expiry date. You can copy a link again or revoke one instantly if it leaks or you no longer want it active.
Choosing the right role
| Role | Give it to |
|---|---|
| Member | Everyone by default โ full participation, no admin access |
| Moderator | Trusted people who help keep spaces healthy |
| Admin | Co-founders and staff who manage settings and members |
Growth basics
Invitations convert far better when there's something worth joining. Before you scale outreach:
- Seed the rooms. Start a few conversations and post real content so new arrivals don't land in an empty space.
- Onboard deliberately. Give every new member one clear first action within their first few minutes.
- Use links where your audience lives. A single revocable link in your email signature, bio, or newsletter compounds over time.
- Invite in waves. Small, steady cohorts keep the community feeling active and let you welcome people personally.
Next steps
- Follow the full launch-from-scratch playbook for your first 30 days.
- Make those first minutes count with the onboarding checklist.
- Explore member management in the admin tools, and reward participation with gamification.
