Your MateFlow community is a full progressive web app (PWA), which means you can add it to your phone's Home Screen and open it like any other app. No app store, no download queue, no separate account. It launches full screen (no browser address bar), remembers you between visits, and can send push notifications when someone replies, mentions you, or an event is about to start.
This guide is for members who want the community on their phone. If you run a community and want to brand the mobile experience, see bring your community to mobile instead.
Install on iPhone or iPad (Safari)
iOS only lets you install web apps from Safari, so open your community there first.
- Open your community's web address in Safari and sign in.
- Tap the Share icon (the square with an up arrow) in the toolbar.
- Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
- Confirm the name, then tap Add.
A MateFlow icon now sits on your Home Screen. Tap it and the community opens in its own full-screen window, in portrait mode, just like a native app.
Install on Android (Chrome)
- Open your community in Chrome and sign in.
- Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
- Tap Install app (or Add to Home Screen).
- Confirm, and the icon is added to your app drawer and Home Screen.
On many devices Chrome also shows a small Install banner on its own. And once you've been active for a session or two, MateFlow may surface a friendly "Install this app" prompt with an Install button โ just tap it to skip the menu steps.
What the mobile app feels like
| Feature | What you get |
|---|---|
| Full-screen launch | Opens without the browser bar, so more of the screen is your community |
| Home Screen icon | One tap to jump straight back in |
| Push notifications | Get alerted to replies, mentions, messages, and event reminders |
| Quick shortcuts | Long-press the icon to jump to your feed, messages, or events |
Everything you'd expect works on mobile: reading and posting in spaces, direct and group messages, RSVPing to events, and taking courses. Your session and notification settings carry over from the browser.
Troubleshooting
- No "Add to Home Screen" on iPhone? Make sure you're in Safari, not Chrome or an in-app browser. iOS blocks installs from other browsers.
- Notifications not arriving? Open the installed app, allow notifications when prompted, and check your device's notification settings for MateFlow.
- Icon missing after reinstalling? Just repeat the steps above; installing again is safe and won't duplicate your account.
