Social login lets members sign in and sign up with an account they already have: Google, Apple, Facebook, or X (Twitter). It works out of the box with Mateflow's shared OAuth apps, or you can connect your own so your brand appears on the provider's consent screen.
Who can do this: Owners and admins. Changing a provider asks you to re-enter your admin password. · Where: Web (admin console). Members see the sign-in buttons on the web and in the Mateflow app. · Plan: Social login with platform credentials isn't limited by plan. Using your own OAuth credentials (custom credentials) depends on your platform plan.
Turn on social login and choose a login mode
- Go to Admin → Settings → Social Login.
- Under General Settings, turn on Enable Social Login.
- Choose a Login Mode:
- Optional: members can use any sign-in method. The email form comes first.
- Preferred: social login buttons come first, above the email form.
- Social Only: members can only sign in or sign up with a social account. This option is available after you turn on at least one available provider.
- Click Save changes.
Turn on Google, Apple, Facebook, or X
Under Social Login Providers, each provider has a card and a switch.
- Turn on the provider's switch.
- If Admin verification required appears, enter your Admin password and click Verify.
Provider switches save right away. A badge on each card shows how the provider is set up:
- Platform credentials: it uses Mateflow's shared OAuth app. Nothing else to set up.
- Custom credentials: it uses your own OAuth app.
- Needs custom credentials: platform credentials aren't available for this provider, so you need your own.
- Upgrade required: your platform plan doesn't include this option.
- Last verify failed: Mateflow couldn't confirm your custom credentials. Open Configure to fix them.
Use your own OAuth app (custom credentials)
With custom credentials, the provider's consent screen shows your app's name instead of Mateflow's.
- Click Configure on the provider's card.
- Under Credentials, choose Custom credentials.
- Copy the Redirect URI and add it to your OAuth app in the provider's developer console. Provider setup guide links to the steps.
- Enter the Client ID and Client Secret. For Apple, enter the Service ID, Team ID, and Key ID, and paste the Private key (.p8 contents) or click Upload .p8 file.
- Click Test connection. You have to pass the test before you can save.
- Click Save changes and verify with your admin password.
If the test fails, the message tells you why, for example "Client ID or Secret is incorrect." or "The provider does not have mateflow's redirect URI registered."
Switch a provider back to platform credentials
- Click Configure, choose Platform credentials, and click Save changes.
- In Switch back to platform credentials?, click Switch back.
Your custom credentials are deleted, and this can't be undone. The consent screen will show Mateflow's name again, and existing members may need to approve access again the next time they sign in. If platform credentials aren't available for that provider, it's turned off.
If your platform plan stops including custom credentials, the page shows Custom OAuth credentials paused with the number of affected providers.
What members see when they sign in with a social account
On your community's sign-in and sign-up pages, members see a button for each provider you turned on, such as Sign in with Google, in the order Google, Apple, Facebook, X. The Mateflow app shows the same options.
Members can connect or disconnect social accounts under Settings → Security → Social Accounts. They must keep at least one way to sign in.
