Launching a community is less about picking the perfect tool and more about the first 30 days. The communities that stick share one trait: they feel active and worth showing up to before they ask anyone to pay.
Week one: define who it is for
Write a one-sentence description of the member you are building for and the outcome they get. Everything — spaces, events, onboarding — should ladder back to that sentence. A narrow, specific community beats a broad, generic one every time.
Week two to four: seed and onboard
Set up two or three spaces, not ten. Post the first conversations yourself, invite a small founding group, and give every new member a clear first action within five minutes of joining. Momentum compounds; an empty room does too.
